Are you ready for Peach Fuzz? For Pantone it is the colour of 2024

A peach shade somewhere between pink and orange. A velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul”. These are the definitions that the Pantone Institute has given of Peach Fuzz, the colour of the year 2024, explaining the reasons for its choice and how it should be applied in fashion and accessories. Meanwhile, some have already applied it to trainers.

Are you ready for Peach Fuzz?

In English, Peach Fuzz means the hair of the fruit, but also the almost imperceptible facial hair. Gentle, velvety, contemporary, and nourishing are some of the adjectives Pantone uses to describe the shade. “Pantone colour 13-1023 Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It communicates a message of love and sharing, a sense of community and collaboration. It emphasises our desire for solidarity with others, moments of calm and feelings of protection”.

Why?

But why, after Viva Magenta in 2023, did Pantone choose this colour for next year? “In an age full of turmoil in many aspects of our lives, our need for empowerment, empathy and compassion grows day by day. So does our desire for a peaceful future. In a world that often puts productivity and external results first, it is crucial to recognise the importance of our inner selves and find moments of rest”. But, also of “creativity and human contact even with the hectic pace of modern life”.

Practical uses

How to apply the shade in clothing and accessories? Peach Fuzz 13-1023 is an inviting colour that stands out and excels. It conveys a tactile and concrete message with suede-like, velvety, embroidered and thick finishes. It is elegantly enveloping and soft to the touch.

Trainers timing

There are those who have already included the 2024  colour in their collection, with incredible timing. The Brazilian footwear brand Cariuma will launch three trainer models: Oca Low Canvas, Oca Low Premium Leather and Salvas. All in Peach Fuzz shades (source: WWD). Other companies (including Motorola, Polaroid, Ultrafabrics and Spoonflowers) are also collaborating with Pantone to develop and launch articles dedicated to the new colour.
