The date is for September 20-26, to coincide with Milan Fashion Week, in the heart of Milan. Spazio Lineapelle (Piazza Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa), with Lineapelle Designers Edition, becomes a showcase for young and emerging designers who stand out on the fashion scene for the original and quality use they make of leather. The event, which enjoys the patronage of the City of Milan, takes place in the city, while the 100th edition of Lineapelle is staged at the Rho exhibition centre.
It begins on September 20, with Mario Dice, creative director of Mangano (brand of the Lamonaca Group), who presents SELFIE-à-PORTER (6.00 p.m. – 10.30 p.m. by invitation only). September 21st continues with the Californian collective Theheyyman, who will be on stage with “Grey Area: A Lesson in Customisation” (17:00-20:00 open to the public). On September 22nd, Froy holds his “Out of the Ark”, a fusion of the subcultures of our time in his geometric and surreal world, in two sessions. The first, from 2 to 5 p.m., is open to the public, while the second (6 to 7.30 p.m.) is by invitation only.
A double appointment is scheduled for September 24. Opening from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (by invitation or accreditation only) is Radica Studio, which with “Radica Studio, Act VIII-IX, Mustang” reinterprets classic leather goods techniques (such as hand stitching and waxing) in modern, clean, sensual lines. On the same day, from 7p.m. to 11p.m. (by invitation only), Cristiano Burani presents “nobody Owns me”, in which he engages and informs the public about his research and experimentation work for the S/S 2023 collection.
From Lineapelle, they explain that it is a priority to “support and enhance young and emerging creatives”. Those, that is, who propose an innovative vision of the use of leather. And who, thus, offer the public tangible examples of how tanning, already circular in itself, over the years has been oriented towards a sustainable production model. “Lineapelle Designers Edition celebrates leather. It tells of its beauty and versatility.
It demonstrates its ability to arouse emotions, to be transgressive and to be a fundamental material for fashion, luxury and design,” comments Fulvia Bacchi, CEO of Lineapelle and General Manager of UNIC –Italian Tanneries. “That is why we want to support the creativity of those who use leather in their collections in an exemplary manner. A few seasons ago, we started to collaborate with designers and brands, and today we are presenting a dedicated event. We hope that these expressions will be a stimulus for all creative people”.
