Bata celebrates its 125 years of activity by changing “Friday revolution” and awards prized to the winners of Young Designers’ Challenge 

Bata celebrates its 125th birthday by introducing its version of a fast fashion strategy, which will be made of different weekly offersinside stores. The business chose to have the celebration for its 125thyear of activity in Prague and will use the occasion to present Bata Fashion Weekend’s third edition, inside which the final of Bata Young Designers’ Challengetook place. The event consists in a fashion show focused on footwear. The brand also showcased its new collections among which was Bata Italian Collection, designed and manufactured in Italy with high-quality leather. Three students were chosen as the winners of Bata Young Designers’ Challenge 2019: Natálie Nepovímová (Czech Republic); Tuvshin Batkhuu (Italian with Mongolian origin) and Cyprian Kavita Kiswili (Kenyan). The sneakers drawn by them will be produced and sold in selected Bata stores. But the most important change was announced by Claudio Alessi, president of Bata Europe, who told to MFFashion that: “Every Friday our 5,300 stores will receive shipments of our new men and women footwear models that will be additional to our main seasonal collection. Fashion runs fastand our goal is to keep up with the market’s demands as much as possible”. Bata closed 2018 with a revenue of 250 million euro in Europe, a higher result in comparison to the forecast. The positive trend is continuing in 2019: the increase on comparable sales was of 5%in the first quarter of 2019.
