Leather in its DNA: Tomasetta’s first collection for Montblanc

“I chose Montblanc because leather is part of its DNA”, said designer Marco Tomasetta, charged by the brand (owned by Richemont) to develop the leather goods’ segment. The new collection is called Meisterstück and is the first one designed by the stylist with experience in PradaChloéLouis Vuitton and, ore recently, as creative director of Givenchy for women and men’s leather goods.

Leather in its DNA

“I wanted to join Montblanc because leather is part of its DNA. Looking at the archives, I realized that the brand began with pens and then expanded into small leather accessories to protect the pens. It’s tradition”, said Tomasetta to WWD. “The first thing I wanted to do with Montblanc was to work with more flexible and modern materials. To protect the technology we use daily and, of course, pens”, said the designer.

Meisterstück collection

So, the Meisterstück collection (named after one of the famous writing tools of the brand) includes leather sleeves, laptop covers, tote bags, cross-body models and wallets made in soft opaque leather with an elegant shape and elegant proportions. Every bag has special compartments where to keep a pen. The functionality and versatility of the products were, and still are, the main objectives for Tomasetta.

Details

The price tags for the Meisterstück collection start at 290 USD for a card holder till 2,000 USD for a large bag that the brand considers the flagship item. The collection will be available on Montblanc’s website (and in its stores) starting from March 10th, 2022.
