Jill Sander (Onward Holding): fewer sales, fewer shops and talk of firing creative director Rodolfo Paglialunga

Jill Sander is trying to reboot. The brand created in Germany in 1973 and held by the Japanese Onward group lost more than 12% of revenue in 2015 (dropping from 13.5 to 11.7 billion yen, or a loss of 103 million euros) and closed 20 single-brand shops, with 80 now instead of 100. A trend that has fed word of a possible divorce from the brand’s creative director, Rodolfo Paglialunga (from Italy’s Marches region) who joined the company two years ago. For some, the Jill Sander collection shown in Milan will be Paglialunga’s last, with Onward Holding having already chosen his successor. (mv)
