Giorgetti: 10 million euro from MISE for Italy’s tanning industry

The goal: stimulating “investment projects capable of incrementing competitivity via the introduction of digital production processes and product innovation”. In a note published on January 8th, the Economic Development Ministry (MISE) officialized the supply of “10 million euro of forgivable funds to the tanning industry”.

10 million euro from MISE

As written by MISE, “the funds are destined for companies that are part of the national tanning industry”. Conditions to access the funds include the mandatory presentation “individually or done with other entities of the chain, of projects that prove the funds will be used to become more competitive”. How? “Through the introduction of digital production processes and product innovation”. Specifically, “the expense for the projects must fall between the 50,000 and 200,000 euro range”, with a note specifying that “the among is increased to 500,000 euro for projects that have specific characteristics”.

Finding functional solutions

The decree, promoted by some Tuscan parliamentary members, was signed by the head of MISE Giancarlo Giorgetti (on the right in photo from Imagoeconomica), and by the Economic Minister Daniele Franco. Now the Corte dei Conti (additional entity that must give final registration for this sort of operations), is soon to sign it into effect, after having “finalized the terms and modes” of the requests.

“Italy’s tanning industry – commented Giorgetti -, along with the companies located in the various districts, is an important segment for the made-in-Italy production. Ranging from footwear to furniture, as well as automotive production. MISE supports it with funds for the segment to revive this chain after the Covid-caused difficulties, and the encouraging signs emerged during 2021”. A segment that, concludes the minister, “now has to face the increased prices of raw materials as well”. Which is something “that the government is focusing on, to find functional solutions that may reduce the impacts of these increments”.
