Finally the light at the end of the tunnel for Sonia Rykiel. The brand, in fact, could have a reassuring Christmas break this year, as the Commercial Court in Paris will pick the most advantageous offer that has been made by bidders for the brand. There should be a new owner, if not for unforeseen events.
Three years after the death of its founder, Paris Commercial Court had put the brand up for sale last summer. About a dozen offers arrived to take over the brand that was in the hands of Chinese investment fund, First Heritage Brand. No offer that arrived was considered satisfactory, and thus the loss of 131 jobs seemed sure.
Now the Court in Paris has finished reviewing the latest offers presented. The Court-appointed entity will take three weeks to judge on the evaluations done. Until now there has been no rumor regarding the potential buyers, but the brand is, it would seem, finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.
