More staff and new machinery to increase output — that is the focus of the investment by the Bosnian division of Boxmark, the Austrian-headquartered leather multinational with subsidiaries in seven countries across three continents. According to local press reports, Sarajevo’s Ministry of Labour has announced that the EUR 6.6 million expansion plan will commence in 2026.
Boxmark’s plan to ramp up production
Through its production network, Boxmark manages the entire leather processing chain, from tanning raw hides to manufacturing automotive interior upholstery. The Lukavac plant, in particular, specialises in preparing hides for the furniture sector, including cutting and sewing operations. It is here that the group will roll out an investment plan worth 13 million Bosnian marks (equivalent to roughly EUR 6.6 million) to purchase new machinery and expand its workforce. Starting in January 2026, 400 new employees will be added to the existing staff of 860.
