Slaughters, currency exchange and National Beef acquisition drive Marfrig’s top record performance: +19.8% in 2018

Marfrig’s past year ended with amazing accomplishments. In 2018, the net turnover of the Brazilian slaughter giant amounted to 41.4 billion Reals, that is, slightly more than 11 billion US dollars: compared to the previous year, it considerably increased by 19.8%. Earnings turned out to be amazing, as they reached 796 million euros (+35.2%), the best result in the history of the company. The performance achieved in 2018 fourth quarter proved to be decisive: in fact, all Marfrig’s segments increased. In addition to that, the company also carried out, throughout the year, several deals: in November, for example, they sold Keystone. Finally, the business trend in North America’s market was extremely positive. It is no coincidence that National Beef, the fourth slaughter enterprise in the United States, and National Beef Leathers focus their activities over here: together they reached, in terms of revenues, over 6.7 billion euros, therefore increasing by 17.3% compared to the year before. “Such growth – commented some representatives of Marfrig – has been mostly driven by high volumes of livestock slaughtering, heavy demand and currency exchange effects”.
