High schools, fashion schools, universities. In Italy and worldwide. Lineapelle’s training adapts to the precautionary measures imposed by lockdown, but not for this it is giving up its teaching mission: with webinars and digital lessons, it reaches the Italian and international academies to teach the characteristics and importance of leather. If the program was already rich in March, it is even more impressive in the spring.
With IUAV in Venice, for example, the project “University and Industry: know-how and planning” has gone forward. 34 were the students of the course in Fashion Design who designed a capsule of male accessories. While online lessons ended on March 31st, students took the final exam on April 17th. The construction of prototypes and visits to the tanneries were postponed to September, there is no need to say why. And not just Venice. The formation of Lineapelle and UNIC – Italian Tanneries also involved Milano Fashion Institute, the inter-university consortium made up of Bocconi, Cattolica and Politecnico. On April 15, 16 and 17, lessons were held for the 36 international students of the master in “Fashion Direction: Brand & Product Management”. The course is aimed at training professionals who contribute to the management of brands and of collection development processes. Students now need to present their graphic projects, related to trendy materials for Summer 2021.
Lineapelle continues training activities with 7 lessons (starting on April 20)for the in Fashion and Costume Sciences course at Università La Sapienza di Rome. Meanwhile, with Accademia Costume e Moda in Rome, lessons for students for the third year of the three-year course in Costume & Fashion on leather and tanning are scheduled in mid-May.
While the month of April also marks the restart of training for brands, Lineapelle follows up on the partnership with the international fashion school Polimoda Firenze. LP training offer, we said, is able to decline its teaching according to the interlocutors. Thus, along with the projects with Politecnico di Milano (Design for the Fashion System), with ITS Fashion Archive and Heritage Management and Istituto Marangoni, collaborations with high schools continue. Students of Gregorio Ronca Institute in Solofra will be able to enjoy five online lessons entitled “Knowing Leather – UNIC Pills”. For the students of Russel Newton Institutes of Scandicci and Ferraris-Brunelleschi of Empoli fashion trends, the program includes an overview of finishing techniques and consultation of LP Fashion Studio digital archive.
LP is international
The project with Hongik University in Seoul started on April 1, with a series of videoconference MasterClasses. 20 students from the Fashion Design and Industrial Design departments are called to discover and communicate the values of circularity and sustainability of Italian leather. Starting in May, creative projects will come alive. Among the various design proposals, the finalists of the competition will be selected to produce some prototypes. The 23 US students (now all back home) of the “Made in Italy” course of the consortium Institute for International Education for Student were offered a focus on the excellence of the Italian tanning industry and on the importance of Lineapelle for the fashion industry.
