From the Tokyo Leather Fair to Milan: an international dialogue that brings Italy and Japan together through leather culture. On show at Lineapelle 107 (11–13 February) are the two winning projects of the Leather Design Competition promoted by the Tokyo Leather Fair — a creative bridge that strengthens the global high-end network and the fair’s international dimension. Not merely an exhibition platform, but a space for cultural integration and the promotion of emerging talent, capable of connecting schools, designers and industry in a knowledge network dedicated to the high end of the market.
From the Tokyo Leather Fair to Milan
A work that transforms leather into a living organism. The “needles” are finely cut leather threads meticulously grafted onto a trunk, creating a material balance between life and death. Inspired by the practice of bonsai — and by the Jin and Shari techniques that work on living and dead wood — Tsuneda imagines a bonsai that never withers, sculpted through layering, polishing and carving. The project explores leather’s sculptural potential and its ability to endure over time.
The project by Souma Miura
