The USA, in 2017, increases the export of rough leather but falls into semi-finished

Italy buys more than China’s exports of raw leather but retains that of semi-finished products. Italy is one of the leading customers in Washington overtaking China in wet blue. It’s the picture that emerges from USHSLA data on US overseas sales in the period January-May 2017. Bovine crude is the protagonist of an annual growth rate of 19% in volume and 18% in value (635 Millions of dollars), with China (+ 11%), South Korea (+ 23%) and Mexico (+ 42%) growing. If Italian customers buy less raw leather (-41%), they are among the leading players in the wet blue market. + 36% over Beijing. In general, exports of US semi-finished products in the first five months of the year are in a negative area: -5% in volume and -3% in value. At the same time, slaughter in the USA is growing. Adult males have increased by 5.7%, and those of females by 8.2%.
