Italian tanning industry bites the bullet: 2016 last term ends up negative as manufacturing slows down. Same goes abroad

Bovine leather sales go down: – 4% on the whole, calf -7%. Negative trend for ovine/ caprine as well (-7%), -9% for the ovine ones. Italian tanning 2016 last term suffers from the overall crisis of manufacturing, as demand has a stop-and-go trend. Still recovery can’t be figured out. UNIC’s business department forecast are wary. Same goes for tanning industries abroad. Looking at the same term, bovine leather sales trend is negative in Europe (except for the UK and Poland), as much as in overseas countries such as Brazil, India, China and Pakistan. Likewise Spanish ovine/caprine leather sales decrease; sales are considerably in decline in India, Turkey and Pakistan.
