Kering appoints Francesca Bellettini as new CEO of Gucci

After weeks of rumors, Kering has announced the appointment of Francesca Bellettini as president and CEO of Gucci. The manager, already co-CEO of brand development for Kering, succeeds Stefano Cantino, who is leaving after less than a year. This decision comes just days after the appointment of new Kering CEO Luca de Meo, who has initiated a profound streamlining of the company’s reporting lines. The timing remains crucial: Gucci saw a 25% decline in revenue in the first half of 2025, and its relaunch is now a top priority.

Change at the top for Gucci

Francesca Bellettini brings to Gucci her experience at Saint Laurent, where she led the brand to six-fold growth in ten years. Her appointment ensures strategic continuity, as she has already been involved in the selection of the new creative director, Demna, who is expected to debut on September 23rd in Milan. Bellettini knows Gucci well, having worked there from 2003 to 2008, and is now preparing to lead the company through a delicate phase. “I am truly honored to assume direct responsibility for Gucci, one of the most iconic luxury houses in the world – said Bellettini –. I am thrilled to work under the leadership of Luca de Meo, whose innovative and disruptive vision inspires us to push boundaries. I look forward to taking on this new challenge together with the entire Gucci team and alongside Demna, whose creativity I have always admired”.

De Meo simplifies the structure

Francesca Bellettini’s appointment follows weeks of speculation surrounding the departure of Stefano Cantino. The leadership change is part of a broader reorganization initiated by Luca de Meo, who likely chose to eliminate the dual role of deputy CEO to streamline the group’s structure, as Business of Fashion notes. Jean-Marc Duplaix will retain his role as chief operating officer, while further departures are expected shortly, including those of CFO Alberto Valente and chief commercial officer Cayetano Fabry. “At this crucial moment, I intend to build a leaner, clearer organization, with the best talent leading our brands – de Meo emphasized –. Gucci, as our group’s flagship brand, must receive the utmost attention, and Francesca, one of the most experienced and respected professionals in the industry, will bring the leadership and execution excellence needed to bring the brand back to the level it deserves”.
