Leather physically meets at the World Leather Congress 2021

Leather physically meets once again. World Leather Congress 2021 was presented on July 15th. The city of Addis Abeba will host the event on November 1st, marking its 5th edition. An early comment of the event was provided by the management team of Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute. Along with them were operators of Leather Industry Development Institute and Trade and Fairs East Africa, as well as Commerce Ministry representatives of the country. From November 3rd to the 5th, XXXVI IULTCS Congress will also take place in Ethiopia’s capital. The third edition of the European congress, scheduled for 2022 will take place, on the other hand, in Vicenza, and it will be curated by Associazione italiana Chimici del Cuoio (AICC).

In Addis Abeba

Organizers of the World Leather Congress 2021 presented live to an international audience on July 15th. At the center of the discussion was the grand technological and digital transformation that has recently taken place within the leather industry. A transition that finds joint efforts in protecting the material from both a cultural and historic viewpoint, along with ensuring environmental responsibility. Among the many guests participating at the event will also be UNIC’s VP, Luca Boltri and COTANCE’s general secretary Gustavo Gonzalez-Quijano.

The large meeting of chemicals’ manufacturers

Addis Abeba will host, at the same time as WLC, the XXXVI IULTCS Congress (November 3 – 5). The main topic of the congress will be “Greening the Leather Value ChainB”, a topic around which organizers are still collecting contributions from speakers. The “chemicals’ capital” in 2022, on the other hand, will be Vicenza. Here, on September 18th to 20th, the III European IULTCS congress will take place at the Centro Congressi of Vicenza Fiera, which will be organized by Associazione italiana dei Chimici del Cuoio (AICC). The events will take place in “hybrid” mode, to ensure that all those that want to participate will be able to do so online, given the restrictions tied to the pandemic.

The comment

During the many presentations that take place at the event, the president of the organizing committee of IULTCS, Luis Zugno, invited as many operators of the leather chain as possible, to widen participation. “We need participants and support, even in the form of sponsorship – he explains -. There are many important issues that the leather industry has to face. As of now, we need to be as many as possible, to have useful dialogues and find common solutions”.
